School History
Welcome to St. Patrick’s Catholic High School. We are proud to be the home of the Irish, a school that stands strong in its values, guided by our Catholic faith.
St. Patrick’s has a rich history of Catholic education in Sarnia, now in its fifth location within the city. Our journey began in 1935 on the top floor of Our Lady of Mercy School under the care of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Over the years, we moved to Essex Street and later Bright Street, where St. Patrick’s merged with St. Patricia’s High School, forming one united student body. The Brothers of St. Louis joined the Sisters, and eventually lay teachers became part of our dedicated staff.
As our school community grew, we relocated to the former Sarnia Central High School site in 1984. Continued growth led to the opening of St. Christopher’s in 1996, which built its own valued traditions for 18 years. Changing circumstances brought the two schools together, and during renovations, students and staff united at St. Patrick’s on East Street for the 2014–2015 school year. One year later, St. Patrick’s moved to its current home on Rapids Parkway. The former St. Christopher’s building was completely renovated and expanded, creating a modern and welcoming space for learning.
At St. Patrick’s, we are committed to educating the whole student. Our school offers a wide range of courses and experiences, fostering academic achievement, creativity, and innovation. We also strive to nurture stewardship, leadership, and social responsibility. You will see this in countless “Irish Moments” and acts of kindness that define our school culture. Throughout the year, students volunteer, mentor peers, support local charities, and serve the community in meaningful ways, from helping at the local soup kitchen to organizing city-wide food drives.
We are proud to be the Irish, strong in faith, united in community, and dedicated to excellence.
