St. Clair Catholic’s Dress Down for Wheels Campaign Sets Record, Delivers 51 Bikes to Students

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board community demonstrated outstanding generosity during the 6th Annual Dress Down for Wheels campaign, held May 4 to 8.

Staff across the system and at the Catholic Education Centre dressed down and donated in support of students, helping raise more than $10,000 and setting a new record for the initiative.

The funds were used to purchase and deliver 51 bicycles, helmets, and locks to students throughout the board, including a specially adapted tricycle.

Led by OECTA members, the campaign also received strong support from staff represented by APSSP, CPCO, and CUPE, reflecting the caring spirit of the St. Clair Catholic community.

“This initiative is a beautiful example of what can happen when people come together in support of children,” said Director of Education Lisa Demers. “For many students, receiving a bicycle means independence, confidence, and the opportunity to simply enjoy being a kid. We are incredibly grateful to every staff member who contributed to making this year’s campaign such a tremendous success.”

“This campaign continues to grow because of the compassion and generosity of our staff,” said Brian Breault, OECTA Elementary President. “Knowing that 51 students will now have access to a bike, helmet, and lock is something everyone involved can be proud of. It is inspiring to see our school communities rally together to support children and families in such an incredible way.”

“Dress Down for Wheels has become a tradition that truly reflects the heart of Catholic education,” said Jeff Phaneuf, OECTA Secondary President. “Year after year staff step forward with incredible generosity because they understand the impact these gifts can have on a student’s life both mentally and physically. We are thankful to everyone who helped make this record-setting year possible.”
